Honey Month - May 2020

Honey Month events

FRI 01 May 2020

START OF VIRTUAL HONEY MONTH FESTIVITIES!

Honey Month aims to promote the Australian honeybee industry and their products to the broader public. One of the driving forces behind Honey Month is to develop an interest in beekeeping by the next generation as well as to educate the public to support WA honey and its beekeepers. Bees are under threat from disease, climate change and dwindling forest resources. It is necessary for the community to appreciate and understand the importance of bees as our master pollinators and how they play part in every aspect of the ecosystem and food diversity.

As you all know, Western Australian honey is the purest in the world as we have the healthiest bees. This is a result of our commitment to quarantine and our Honey Bees feeding from vast stretches of endemic flora. The challenge is how to make international buyers recognise the value of the Western Australia’s honey bee products and create new business opportunities?

Our program is delivered over 1 1/2 days, commencing on Friday afternoon with an overview of the WA honey bee industry, mini pitch series, group formation and ending the day with drinks and snacks. Continuing on Saturday morning, the product and market validation, business model development, coaching by experts, pitch preparation, pitch to panel, feedback and warm-up, lunch and teas provided.
